NLE July 2011 Update # 8 "Attire and Regional Oath-taking"

I have read and received some updates this day regarding the famous issue on scrapping the Mass Oath-taking for the July 2011 NLE Passers. BoN Member, Hon. Marco Antonio Sto. Tomas stated the Attire for the Oath-taking in his Official Facebook Fan Page, Jaymee Gamil of Philippine Daily Inquirer wrote about the New Regional Oath-taking rites and an Editorial from Pilipino Star Ngayon says that the Mass Oath-taking is indeed as waste of our government's (our) money:

OATH-TAKING AT REGIONAL OFFICE of THE PRC IN BAGUIO CITY FOR REGION 1 AND CAR

The Regional Office holds oath-taking for professionals who have not attended Mass Oath-taking, every THURSDAY at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Oath-taking is required for initial registration.


No oath-taking fees. Please come in semi-formal attire. Health and allied professionals must come in gala attire. Confirm attendance with Regulations Division (Window 11) or call (074) 304-3028

PRC releases guide on new oath-taking rites

MANILA, Philippines—The Professional Regulation Commission has come out with guidelines on its newly austere oath-taking rites for nurses.


In a statement released on Wednesday, the PRC said group oath-taking ceremonies may be hosted by the respective schools of the board passers, in coordination with the respective chapters of their accredited professional organizations, for as long as they get clearance from the Board of Nursing and the PRC.


Regional PRC offices may also hold the rites, also in coordination with regional chapter of the APOs, with consultation with the BON and the PRC main office.


New nurses may also have their oath-taking individually before the BON, PRC officials and “any other official authorized to administer oath pursuant to section 16 of the Philippine Nursing Law.”


These guidelines for the oath-taking rites of the July 2011 Nursing Licensure Exam passers may become a precedent for those of other professions. The PRC released the guidelines “pending issuance of a more definitive and detailed guideline that will apply not only to nurses but to all board passers in other professions covered by the licensure examinations administered by the appropriate Professional Regulatory Boards and the PRC.”


Oath-taking rites for nurses used to be held en masse. The mass oath-taking for the July 2011 nursing board passers, supposedly to be held next month, has been cancelled.

MABUTI naman at naisip ng Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC) na alisin na ang magarbong mass oath-taking ng mga nakapasa sa nursing board examination ngayong taon na ito. Ayon sa Department of Labor and Employment, wala nang mass oath taking para sa mga bagong nurses. Ito ay bilang pagsunod sa kampanya ng gobyerno na magtipid. Ayon kay Labor secretary Rosalinda Baldoz, nag-isyu na ng withdrawal ang Board of Nursing (BON) para sa mga hinihinging congratulatory and inspirational messages mula sa top government officials na ilalathala sa souvenir program. Ayon pa kay Baldoz, malaking pera ang matitipid ng gobyerno sa hindi pagdaraos ng mass oath-taking.


Nararapat lang na huwag nang magkaroon ng magarbong mass oath-taking. Gawin na lamang ito nang simple para makatipid hindi lamang ang gobyerno kundi pati na rin ang mga magulang. Dahil naging tradisyon na ang mass oath-taking, puwersadong dumalo ang mga nakapasa kaya panibagong gastos na naman ang haharapin nila. Siyempre maraming babayaran gaya ng souvenir program, venue ng oath-taking at kung anu-ano pa. At hindi naman lahat ng mga magulang ng nakapasang nurses ay maykaya sa buhay.


Karamihan sa mga magulang ay iginapang lamang ang kanilang anak para makatapos ang kanilang anak. Marami sa kanila ang “kumapit sa patalim” para lamang maigapang ang kanilang anak. Nangutang at nagbenta ng ari-arian para makatapos ang anak sa kabila na walang katiyakan kung makakakuha agad ng trabaho ang anak. Mahirap makapasok sa ospital ang mga bagong nurses. Meron pa nga na kasama sa mga nag-top sa exam at nagtapos sa mga kilalang nursing school pero mahirap pa ring makapasok sa trabaho.


Dapat lang at sana ay noon pa nasimulan na itigil ang mass oath-taking ng nurses. Gastos lamang ito gayung maaari namang hindi gawin ng grupo lang o kaya ay indibidwal. Sinimulan na rin lang ng PRC, sana ay ipatupad na rin ng iba pang ahensiya. Pagtitipid ang kailangan sa panahong ito. Kalimutan ang pagbubulagsak na maaaring ikabagsak.

PRC scraps mass oath-taking for nurses

MANILA, Philippines -  No more lavish oath-taking ceremony for newly licensed nurses in the country.


The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has shelved the traditional mass oath-taking for those who passed the licensure examination for nurses.


Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said the PRC decided to scrap the oath-taking for newly licensed nurses as part of the government’s austerity measures.


“Starting with the nursing graduates who successfully passed the July nursing licensure examination, there will be no more mass oath-taking,” Baldoz said.


PRC chairperson Teresita Manzala said the Board of Nursing (BON) issued an official communication withdrawing the request for the usual inspirational and congratulatory messages from top government officials which would have been published in the traditional souvenir program marking the oath-taking of newly registered nurses who hurdled the July 2011 licensure examination.


The BON is the regulatory board for nursing professionals under the PRC.


Manzala said the BON cited the current socio-economic conditions being experienced by Filipino families, especially in the income class where majority of the nurses belong, as main reason for the cancellation of the mass oath-taking.


“While the oath-taking is a requirement of law, the Board (of Nursing) decided to simplify it to save on costs and other expenses relevant to the holding of the traditional mass oath-taking,” she added.




Manzala, however, said the PRC would still administer the oath-taking either individually or in groups upon registration for nurse licenses with the PRC.


Baldoz expressed hope that the BON’s move would set an example to other government agencies to be practical in areas where effective and efficient fund management is necessary.


With the simple oath-taking, Baldoz said the government would save thousands of pesos on printing cost due to the cancellation of the souvenir program which is traditionally part of the expenses for such an event.

            Being one of the board passers of July 2011 National Licensure Examination (Philippines) and soon be taking our oath and be receiving our license, just always remember that this is only the penultimate step toward success to the real world of nursing.

             Yes, we are merry about the good news we heard August 20, 2011, 6:00 pm onwards from our FRIENDS thru Facebook, Friendster, Twitter, Myspace, Yahoo, mobile phone texts-calls and the hearsay. We are so glad about this, and no one could even beat our happiness.

             Many of us have made to thank our parents, our friends or even our previous and ex-clinical-room instructors and the review centers we are proud of. We have received also countless congratulations and other messages regarding this unbreakable news of cheerfulness thru mobile phone calls and text messages, and facebook wall posts and messages…

             Even though we did not make to be on the top of the board passers, we have accepted it because we know all our limitations, being one of the board passers is a BIG THING for us who made it.

             But above all these happiness we are dealing with since then, is our God. We have read “thanks God”, “thank you Lord”, “salamat sa Deus, kung di dahil sayo, di kami papasa gaya ng tinatamasa namen gnayun” and the like. But we need to consider this; we have made it this far because of our courage/guts, our efforts and our sincere prayers to the Creator. The key elements and formulae towards success are our subterranean FAITH to God, our FAITH to ourselves, and making our negative and positive pasts turned to Inspiration and bases of success.

             Perhaps within these 15 days after the announcement of nursing board passers, alas! The license now is in our own hands- the product, witness and proof of our success and our effort and our faith to God. This license will now serve as our key to swipe and open the locked door of the unknown because we do not know yet what life is waiting for us after accepting our Id license.

             What I am trying to point out about this, is that, “THE LICENSE IS USELESS IF WE DO NOT KNOW HOW TO USE IT”… IT IS USELESS IF WE CAN’T USE ITS VALUE TO OUR CHOSEN PROFESSION…

IPAGPATULOY ANG PAGIGING NARS O HINDI?

Ito ay isang tanong na ewan ko kung bakit pero paulit-ulit na umuugong sa isip ko

Napagtanto ko na baka naiisip ko lamang ito dahil sa ito ay naayon sa sitwasyon ko ngayon

*Bakit nga ba ang mga nagtapos ng Narsing, at maging ang mga propesyonal na Nars, tulad ko, ay kadalasang humahantong sa pagpasok sa ibang larangan gaya ng komersyo/kalakalan?

*May maituturing bang relasyon sa pagitan ng dalawang larangang ito?

*Ano ang kinabukasan ng mga Nars sa industriya ng BPO o sa komersyo/ kalakalan sa pangkalahatan?

Unang-una, tungkol sa pagpasok ng mga Nars sa larangan, hindi maikakaila na ito ay dahil sa mga problemang kinakaharap ngayon ng nasabing Propesyon hindi lamang sa Pilipinas ngunit pati narin sa buong mundo

Maraming mga tinitingalang tao sa Propesyon ang naniniwalang walang problema sa mismong mga Nars: na karamihan sa mga Nars na kasalukuyang walang trabaho ngayon ay kwalipikado ngunit ang tunay na problema ay nasa mga sumusunod:

1. sistema ngayon ng pagkuha ng mga Nars sa mga Hospital kung saan dapat nagtatrabaho ang mga Nars

~ narito ang popular na isyu ukol sa pagbabayad pa di umano ng mga nars para lamang makapasok bilang Volunteer Nurse at ang pagbabayad ng malaking halaga para sa mga training

2. kawalan o kakulangan ng suporta ng Gobyerno sa mga nars

~ bagama't kinilala ni Pangulong Aquino ang mga Nars sa kanyang ikalawang SONA ay masasabing hindi parin umano ito sapat para masagot ang tunay na problema ng mga Nars: TRABAHO

~ bagama't may mga ipinatutupad nang mga programa ngayon ang DOH para tugunan ang nasabing problema gaya ng RNHeals at NARS.

3. at ang mga polisiya sa ibang bansa na nakaka-apekto sa kalagayan ng pagtatrabaho nga mga nars sa mga bansang ito

~ Diskriminasyon. Isang lantarang problema sa ibang bansa.

~ Sa Estados Unidos, may polisiyang mas gugustuhin pa raw ni Pangulong Obama na magkaroon ng higit sa isang trabaho ang isang 'Kano kaysa ibigay ito sa isang dayuhan gaya ng mga Pilipino. Di umano maikakaila na ang hakbang na ito ay para mabawasan ang "pasanin" ng mga mamumuhunan sa nasabing bansa sa benepisyo kanilang mga empleyado.

~ Sa Saudi, kamakailan lamang, ay ipinatupad ang "Saudization" na kung saan binibigyan umano ng prayoridad ang mga Arabo kaysa mga dayuhan.

Ang tatlong kadahilanang ito ay ilan lamang sa mga tinitignang rason sa likod nito.

Ikalawa, sa aking pagsusuri ay maraming pagkakapareho ang larangan ng Narsing at Komersyo't Kalakalan.

nagkakapareho ang mga ito sa maraming aspeto. ang ilan sa mga ito ay parehong dumedepende ang dalawang ito sa prisipyo ng Supply at Demand at gumagamit din ang dalawa ng Audit para malaman ang antas ng resulta ng kani-kanilang serbisyo.

~ ngunit, sa aking palagay, ang pinaka-magandang pagkakatulad ng mga ito ay ang katotohanang parehong nakatuon patungo sa kaluguran ng mga kliyente.

Ukol naman sa ikatlong tanong, tiyak na may kinabukasan ang Nars sa Komersyo/ Kalakalan.

nariyan ang pangusbong ng bagong masasabing sangay ng Narsing, ang EntrepreNURSE na kung saan ay hinihikayat pang mamuhunan ang mga Nars na magtayo ng sariling negosyo, maging amo sa halip na maging empleyado para tiyak na kumita rito.

kapansin-pansin naring maraming Nars na nagiging produktibo sa pamamagitan ng pagpasok sa industriya ng pagbebenta (gaya ng mga nasa BPO o Business Process Outsourcing at mga Medical Representative para naman sa mga Pharmaceutical Company).

meron din namang mga Nars na nagiging empleyado sa mga 

nababahala lamang ako sapagkat alam kong ang ito, lalo na ang mga nasa BPO, ay direktang naiimpluwensyahan ng pangkasalukuyang lagay ng ekonomiya ng ibang bansa lalo na ng Estados Unidos.

sabi nga sa isang pahayagang nabasa ko, ang BPO ay isang industriya na madaling lumago't umunlad at, gayundin, ay madaling bumagsak.

sa ngayon ay hindi iyan inportante ang mga kumplikadong bagay na ito. Ang importante ay sinusubukan at pinagsusumikapan ng bawat Pilipinong maging produktibo hanggang sa abot ng kanilang makakaya.
